The constraint that disappeared and nobody noticed
Yesterday, I told you AI doesn’t make work effortless — it just exposes what you’re actually worth without execution friction hiding your judgment. Today, I’m going to show you what constraint just vanished from the economy, and why almost nobody has noticed yet.
The Constraint That Disappeared
Most people miss this about the shift:
Execution used to require massive amounts of ancillary work. Creative work like writing a book delivers its real value in the writing itself — not all the coordination overhead that surrounds it, but that overhead becomes critical to execution because it has to be done.
You have two jobs: doing the work and managing the work. What just disappeared is the second job.

What Is Coordination Overhead?
Coordination overhead is everything that sits between your decision and the outcome:
_Managing drafts and tracking revisions
_Coordinating with team members
_Formatting and file organization
_Scheduling feedback loops
_Context switching between tools
_All the process management that feels like work but isn’t the actual work
The shift: AI doesn’t make execution faster — it eliminates coordination overhead entirely, which collapses the lifecycle from months to minutes.
Concrete examples:
Book writing: The writing is the value, but you also have to manage drafts, coordinate with editors, format chapters, track revisions, and schedule feedback loops. All of that overhead just disappeared.
Code deployment: Traditional workflow requires opening an editor, copying from AI, pasting, testing, committing, pushing, and deploying just to fix one line of code. New workflow: “Fix this line in production." Done.
Website updates: Traditional workflow requires opening design tools, implementing changes, exporting assets, uploading files, and testing. New workflow: “Update design based on this copy." Done.
The coordination overhead — all the context switching, process management, tool juggling — just disappeared.
Frictionless vs. Effortless
People get this wrong when they mistake frictionless for effortless.
This isn’t effortless because it still requires thinking, knowledge synthesis, and everything we talked about in the last email.
Just because something is frictionless doesn’t mean it’s effortless — the distribution of effort changes by getting pushed upstream instead of downstream and concentrated at the beginning of the process where genuine thinking happens, not scattered across endless coordination tasks. Downstream effort (coordination, management, implementation) disappears while upstream effort (thinking, synthesis, decision-making) becomes everything.
Why This Isn’t a 10% Productivity Boost
Myth: This is a 10% productivity boost
Reality: This is a fundamental collapse of how labor markets work.
When execution capacity goes from expensive and scarce to basically free and unlimited, anyone who recognizes it operates at a speed and capacity others can’t rival because there’s no way someone working the old way can keep up.
If you have an idea that creates value, that idea can be brought to life in minutes or hours instead of months or quarters, and people who recognize this get a force multiplier that makes them rare and valuable in a world where the skills that used to be rare and valuable are becoming commodity skills.
This isn’t incremental improvement — it’s exponential advantage.
Why Most People Are Missing This
There are two main reasons that most people (even AI experts) miss this.
First: They don’t understand AI as a system and think it’s a better chatbot instead of infrastructure that eliminates entire categories of work.
Second: There’s no precedent for this way of working, so their brains can’t process it.
The psychological barrier: we’re conditioned to associate effort with progress, so when coordination overhead disappears, it doesn’t “feel" like work happened.
You can’t make this adjustment until you’ve experienced it because until you’ve either seen it happen or experienced it yourself, it sounds like bullshit and there’s no way this seems possible. But the shift people need to make is clear:
Stop thinking “what can we do today" and start thinking “how do we live in the future but do it today."
Stop optimizing current workflows with AI wrappers and start building systems that eliminate the workflow paradigm entirely.
This isn’t coming in 5-10 years because the constraint already disappeared — most people just haven’t noticed.
What This Means for You
If you’re still optimizing for coordination efficiency, you’re playing the wrong game because the game changed and coordination overhead is no longer the bottleneck.
This brings us to tomorrow’s question: If coordination overhead disappeared, what becomes the only thing that matters?
Hint: It’s not execution speed, prompt engineering, or have access to better AI models — it’s something most people haven’t developed as a skill because until now, they didn’t have to.
More tomorrow.
